Great Britain will be presented at the festival LvivKlezFest-2018 by
the Zemel Choir from London
@The Zemel Choir from London is one of the oldest Jewish choirs from Europe – its first performance took place in June 1955. So it will celebrate its 63-th (!) music season in Lviv where the choir will also participate in the VI European Jewish Choir Festival (within the frames of LvivKlezFest).
The repertoire of The Zemel Choir – one of the best mixed Jewish choirs in the world – is extremely rich. It covers all directions of traditional Jewish culture – Ashkenazi, Sephardic, Yiddish and Israeli. Besides the renounced music works performance the choir will present new music of modern composers.
The group comprises of almost 40 singers, and it performs on the most prestigious concert venues around Great Britain and in the whole world. In 2013 and 2015 the choir performed in Westminster Abbey for the service commemorating 75 years of Chrystal Night and liberation of Auschwitz. In 2016 it had a successful tour in Israel. In 2012 and 2015 The Zemel Choir hosted in London European Jewish Choir Festival which actually started in London in 2012 and became traditional, annually changing its location according to the principle of Olympic games. In 2018 Lviv hosts the Festival and famous The Zemel Choir.
